Model
that predicts Sudden Cardiac Death and Congenital Heart Disease:
Researchers
have found out a recent stratification model for sudden cardiac attack in
childhood which is known as Childhood Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). To
develop and to validate a pediatric risk prediction model for SCD in a
childhood HCM, researchers have collected data from a retrospective,
longitudinal cohort study to design a model which can identify patients at
highest risk. Children of age 1 and 16 years were found to be as risk more and
cohort was studied in between these ages.
The
congenital heart disease appears to about 1 per 100 live born infants. In
infants who die before term, however, there is a higher risk of congenital heart disease, with a tendency for an excess of complex lesions. Some of these
lesions are associated with gross chromosomal abnormalities, which occur very frequently
in first-trimester of abortions. Most of the chromosomal abnormalities are
associated with a mal development of many organ systems that leads to fetal
death in utero.
