Marijuana Risks in Heart Health



                             Marijuana risky for people with Heart Diseases:





Marijuana is a greenery herb also called as weed, herb, and ganja which people smoke in hand rolled cigarette called as joints is a mixture of dried flower of Cannabis sativa. Its cultivation was studied some 6,000 years back. At that time the cardiovascular and other health effects of cannabis was not well studied. Because cannabis is scheduled to have no acceptance in medical field or use and is a high potential abuse. That leads to have numerous restrictions on researchers making it difficult to carry out any research on Marijuana. It was originated in United States as a medicinal product in mid 1800s. Compared to smoking cigarettes, smoking marijuana is more risky as it causes many heart diseases and also leads to heart strokes.

From Cardiovascular perspective it is seen that marijuana is associated with increased risk for myocardial infarction and acute coronary syndrome, and increased sympathetic drive.

   Effects of Cannabis:
  •          Anxiety and paranoia
  •         Impaired memory
  •         Difficulty thinking
  •         Respiratory problems
  •         Heightened risk of infections, especially the lungs
  •         Cognitive impairment


Signs of use of Marijuana:
  •          Lack of focus
  •          Talkativeness
  •          Secrecy
  •          Sleepiness
  •          Increased food cravings
  •          Bloodshot eyes


The relaxing effect of cannabis is it increases the heart rate which results in the need of more oxygen. The occurrence of cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation has been associated with effects resulting from parasympathetic stimulation induced by cannabis.
